Why was Kratos recast in God of War? Here’s the full explanation behind TC Carson and Christopher Judge.
Why God of War Recast Kratos – Explained
God of War has officially recast Kratos, bringing back original voice actor TC Carson. But why was Kratos recast in the first place, and what does this mean for the future of the series?

The Original Kratos – TC Carson
TC Carson voiced Kratos during the Greek saga era of God of War. His performance defined the character as an angry, ruthless Spartan warrior focused on revenge against the gods of Olympus.
The Norse Saga – Christopher Judge
When God of War returned in 2018, the character was reimagined as an older, more emotional father. Christopher Judge not only voiced Kratos but also performed motion capture, which was one of the main reasons for the recasting at the time.
Why TC Carson Is Returning
The return of TC Carson suggests that Santa Monica Studio may be revisiting Kratos’ past or telling stories set in the Greek era again. This allows both actors to portray Kratos at different stages of his life.
